The National Survey on Drug Use and Drug , often abbreviated NSDUH , is an annual national survey on the use of legal and illegal drugs, as well as mental disorders, which have been carried out by the American federal government Society since 1971. It is funded by Substance Abuse and Administration of Mental Health Services (SAMHSA), and is overseen by the Center for Statistics and Quality of Health Behavior of SAMHSA. Survey survey of 70,000 Americans aged 12 years and over, through face-to-face interviews conducted in which respondents live. In 1988, RTI International began conducting surveys, and they had been contracted by SAMHSA to continue to do so until 2017. It was originally called the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse , but was renamed in 2002 to its current name. The NSDUH, along with Future Monitoring, is one of two major ways the National Institute of Drug Abuse measures drug use in the United States.
