Histori
TracFone was founded in 1996 as Topp Telecom Inc., a prepaid cellular phone company, in Miami, Florida. In February 1999, Topp received a large capital injection from TelÃÆ' © fonos de MÃÆ'à © xico (NYSE: Ã, TMX), a.k.a. TelMex, the largest telephone company in Mexico. TelMex paid $ 57.5 million to control 55 percent of the company's shares.
In 2000, TelMex separated their mobile unit, creating the AmÃÆ'à © rica MÃÆ'óvil, where Topp Telecom became a subsidiary. In November 2000, Topp Telecom Inc. changed its name to TracFone Wireless Inc.
In May 2012, TracFone's parent company, AmÃÆ'à © rica MÃÆ'óvil, announced it had reached an agreement to acquire a competitor for MVNO Simple Mobile. The deal was completed in June 2012.
In 2013, TracFone launches the tweaking logo. Later that year, TracFone also introduced Android phones (4 models), all CDMA.

TracFone Family Brand
TracFone provides ten service brands: TracFone Wireless, Wireless NET10, Total Wireless, Safelink Wireless, Straight Talk, Telcel AmÃÆ'à © rica, SIMPLE Mobile, Page Plus Cellular, GoSmart Mobile, and Walmart Family Mobile. These brands differ not only in their logo and pre-paid rates but also the underlying networking options:
TracFone
By the end of 2013, TracFone services are limited to TracFone-branded handsets (all TracFone handsets are pre-programmed by the manufacturer; therefore, the handset is locked including the latest GSM models). Another unlocked GSM handset will not accept TracFone SIM cards, because the Tracfone SIM card is locked to the programmed handset. In addition, on most handsets, some features such as USB and Bluetooth have been modified by the manufacturer to prevent direct transfer of user files. In December 2013, TracFone launched "Bring your own phone," which allows customers to use Verizon Certified CDMA phones on the TracFone network. Since June 2015, Tracfone also allows compatible or unlocked GSM phones to use on the Tracfone network through the Bring Your Own Device program.
The TracFone-branded service allows customers to purchase airtime units for use on selected phones by Alcatel, Huawei, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Unimax and ZTE among others. Which handset the user purchases decides what type of network the service uses and thus the coverage map. Mobile phone models that use Verizon or Sprint CDMA networks have the letter C in the model name, while phones that use AT & amp; T or T-Mobile GSM has a letter G.
The minute tracfone (known as "unit") is purchased in blocks that vary in price by the number of minutes purchased. Text messages and mobile web access are measured in fractional units: sending or receiving text messages reduces 0.3 units from user accounts (some TracFone models, such as the Motorola EX124G, reduce 0.5 units of user accounts to send or receive text messages, which also on the old phone); every minute mobile Web access reduces 0.5 units, rounded off for the next minute. Although the previous TracFone model charged twice as much (2.0 units per minute) for roaming outside the user's home phone area, today's phones all offer a "single rate" package, which charges the same 1.0 unit per minute any location. Tracfones has an expiration date; buying more airtime usually adds 90 days of service, with 365 day extension packages available. For smartphones, the value of the card (except the service day) triples and minutes, text messages, and internet data are discreetly tracked (eg 60 minutes card will add 180 minutes, 180 text messages, and 180 megabytes of 3G/LTE data usage).
Tracfone usually offers new service promotions every month. This promotion consists of a Free Bonus Minute in the form of Tracfone promo code and can be used by Safe Link users as well. The most popular Tracfone promotions are Triple Minutes for Life Phones, Double Minutes for Life Cards, and Promo Code for Free Bonus Minutes. Free SMS is capable with certain GSM Tracfone handsets equipped with Wi-Fi as well.

NET10 Wireless is a related offer, using GSM and CDMA phones that support voice messaging and text messaging to a minimum. Some models also offer Bluetooth, camera, hands-free speaker, qwerty keyboard, and wireless web. The "10" in NET10 signifies that every minute sound costs ten cents (five cents for text messages), at no additional cost.
The NET10 slogan is No Bills, No Contracts, No Evil . Both airtime cards and automatic payment plans called "Easy Minutes" are available. Time can be added using the phone itself ("Quick Reload"), on the company website, or using the Customer Service Center. Minutes from one month carried over to the next, as long as the service remains active. NET10 Wireless offers business plans and international calls, and portability numbers are advertised on their sites as available. An unlimited usage package of $ 50 per month is also available, this service provides unlimited SMS, phone calls (excluding International Long Distance Calls, for this type of call is an Unlimited Limited Package or $ 65) Unlimited MMS (in the United States) for just one month to the customer's account. Customers may add more than one Unlimited card and this/this plan (s) is added to the "Phone Reserve" and is charged on the phone on a monthly basis (when the phone has run out of service days) automatically.
Android phones made by LG and Samsung are available via NET10 Wireless, and can be used with their $ 50 Unlimited plan. NET10 Wireless also has a 'mini SIM card' for iPhone that is unlocked with an Unlimited $ 50 Monthly plan.
In December 2012, Net10 Wireless started offering "Family Plans", offering a first line of $ 50/month, reducing each additional line (up to 4) at a $ 5 discount. They also signed a title sponsor agreement with Arena Football League.

Tracfone gives each of their customers an additional 20 airtime units.
