Atlanta Street is a 2.54-mile (4,088 km) road north of Braselton, Georgia, United States. The facility is used for various events, including professional and amateur sports cars and motorcycle racing, racing and driving schools, corporate programs and testing for motor sports teams. The track has 12 rounds, including the famous "essay" between turns three and five; and Turn 12, turn down and dive. The track is owned by IMSA Holdings, LLC through its subsidiary Road Atlanta, LLC, and is home to Petit Le Mans, as well as AMA motor racing, and smaller events throughout the year.

Histori

In 1969, David Sloyer, Earl Walker, and Arthur Montgomery bought a 750-acre (300-hectare) farm in Braselton, Georgia, with the intent to build world-class road racing facilities. When the Can-Am race had to be canceled due to flood damage, the series organizer chose Road Atlanta to replace it. The track then begins to take shape quickly, only takes six months to dig, level, and pave the way.

The first race was held on September 13, 1970. Vic Elford, at Chaparral 2J, won a pole and Tony Dean, on Porsche 908/02, won the 300-km Can-Am event, with Stirling Moss as Grand Marshal. Throughout the 1970s, more upscale series came to Road Atlanta, including Can-Am, Formula 5000, IMSA Camel GT, and Trans-Am. Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) held their annual national championship, SCCA Runoffs, at Road Atlanta from 1970 to 1993. The first ever NASCAR Busch Grand National Series NASCAR history took place at Road Atlanta in 1986.

The track was sold in 1978, and inherited from one owner to the next - culminating in bankruptcy in 1993 under Whittington Brothers (Don & Bill). A partnership between business executives Frank Drendel, Jim Kanely, Eddie Edwards, George Nuse, and Bill Waddell were formed to buy the trajectory. The next three years were spent making gradual improvements to the facility. New buildings were built, others renovated, trajectories widened and reappeared and yard laid out.

In November 1996, the track was purchased by Don Panoz, which would make Braselton an operating base for motorsport-related ventures. Panoz introduces the first major change on the track, removes the Dip, and creates a chicane at the end of a long, straight curve. This change brings footsteps to FIA standards, so international events can be held. A new pit and paddock area is also built on the sides of the field, allowing for larger events, and a 10,000-capacity patio area is built around the new Turn 10 complex.

In 1998, the big race was back on Road Atlanta with the first edition of the Le Mans resilience race. The race caught the world's attention, and included an entry from the Porsche factory team that won Le Mans. The race will be the first race of the Le Mans America Series and includes a spectacular wreck where the Porsche 911 GT1 is backflipped and flies into the side barrier. Petit continues to be an annual event at Road Atlanta, and a marquee event at ALMS.

Prior to Petit Le Mans 2007, the entire surface of the track was repeated. His works also include moving the wall in eses away from the track, with the aim of improving driver safety and better sight lines for the audience. At the end of winter 2007/2008, the circuit was re-modified by reconfiguration of turns 4 and 12, for the real safety benefits of motor racers (racing lines for cars remained essentially unchanged).

In April 2008, Road Atlanta held the 4th stage of the Tour de Georgia, one of the biggest cycling stage races in the United States. The stage is run using a standard racing bike instead of a more aerodynamic time test bike. Slipstream Chipotle won the stage with a time of 19: 38.86, while Astana and Team High Road respectively ranks second and third. Used in local cycling events, the circuit is run counter-clockwise (in reverse), due to safety problems from Turn 11 to Turn 12, creating a steep climb from Turn 12 to Turn 11, and a much safer route for cycling.

October 2008 Petit Le Mans has a four-day crowd of 113,000 people with an average weekend crowd of nearly 80,000 fans. The list of race entries includes a number of new and returning cars.

In September 2012, the track was purchased by IMSA Holdings as part of the acquisition of Panoz Motor Sports Group. The goal is to combine Grand AM and American Le Mans Series. NASCAR Series C & amp; N has announced its comeback to the track in October 2013 as part of the K & amp; N East.

In December 2017, the song hosts the first 24 Hours of Lemons event, Kim Harmon Scrotium 500. The series is also scheduled back in 2018.
