The eighth and final season of the Game of Thrones fantasy drama series was announced by HBO in July 2016. In contrast to the first six seasons each of which has ten episodes and seventh that has seven episodes, the eighth season is only will have six episodes. Like the previous season, most will consist of original content not found currently in the George RR Martin series A Song of Ice and Fire, and will instead adapt the material that Martin has disclosed to launchers about the novel which will come in the series, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring .
The season will be adapted for television by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The official filming starts on October 23, 2017. This season is scheduled to premiere in 2019.

Crew
Series producers and executive producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss will serve as performers for the eighth season. The directors for the eighth season were announced in September 2017. Miguel Sapochnik, who previously directed "The Gift" and "Hardhome" on season 5, and "Battle of the Bastards" and "The Winds of Winter" on season 6 will return as director. He will divide the first five episodes with David Nutter, who directs two episodes in seasons two, three and five. The final episode of the show will be directed by Benioff and Weiss, who have previously directed one episode each.
On the Southern show by Southwest panel on March 12, 2017, Benioff and Weiss announced the authors for the show to be Dave Hill (episode 1) and Bryan Cogman (episode 2). The showrunners will then split the scenario for the four remaining episodes among themselves.
Write
Writing for the eighth season begins with a 140-page outline. Benioff said that the process of handing out and who should write which part becomes more difficult, is that "this will be the last time we will do this".
Filming
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , HBO programming president Casey Bloys stated that instead of the final series being feature films, the last season was "six one-hour movies" on television. He continued, "This show has proven that TV is as impressive and in many cases, more than just a movie.What they do is so monumental." The official filming starts on October 23, 2017.
Episodes
Co-creators David Benioff and DB Weiss have said that the seventh and eighth seasons will likely consist of fewer episodes, stating that after season six, they "dropped to our last 13 episodes after this season." We're headed to the last lap. "Benioff and Weiss stated that they can not produce 10 episodes within the 12 to 14 month period of the show, as Weiss says, "It strikes from the television schedule to more mid-range movie schedules." HBO confirmed in July 2016, that the seventh season will consist of seven episodes, and will premiere more slowly than usual in mid-2017 due to filming schedules later. Benioff and Weiss then assert that the eighth season will consist of six episodes, and is expected to premiere more slowly than usual for the same reason.
Benioff and Weiss talked about the end of the show, saying, "From the beginning we wanted to tell a 70-hour movie.The movie would turn into a 73-hour movie, but it's still relatively the same as having a beginning, middle and now we'll end up, we lose the core players along the way, I'm very glad we have been keeping everyone up and we have to finish it as we want it to. " The season will air in 2019.
Music
Ramin Djawadi is set to return as an event composer for the eighth season.
