The Chevrolet Silverado , and a mechanically identical cousin, GMC Sierra , is a series of full-size and heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by General Motors and introduced in 1998 as the line's successor The long-running Chevrolet C/K. The name Silverado was taken from the trim level previously used on its predecessor, the Chevrolet C/K pickup truck from 1975 to 1998. General Motors continues to offer variants of the Chevrolet branded GMC pickup size under the GMC Sierra name, first used in 1987 for the platform truck variant GMT400.

Histori
Although General Motors introduced its first pickup truck in 1930, the term "Silverado" was the name used only to specify trims for Chevrolet C/K, Suburbans and Tahoes pickup trucks from 1975 to 1999. GMC uses several variations of the "Sierra" eg Sierra, Sierra Classic, and High Sierra); however, Chevrolet still uses CK and CC in their current model code.
Chevrolet Silverado trucks and GMC Sierra are basically the same for their entire history. However, there are several choices of trim and add-on variations. Early models included variations in machines and equipment, but the current differences are few. The 1999 model anniversary design includes different interior gratings and trims, and certain features (eg Quadrasteer) are inserted at different times on two trucks. GMC Sierra has a luxury package known as "Denali" which adds many features of comfort and design changes. The Chevrolet equivalent of the Denali trim level is the High Country Silverado introduced in the 2014 model year. In 2018, in the Work Truck Show, the new Silverado will be released, being 4500 and 5500; This vehicle will be exclusive to Chevrolet, because GMC has no plans to offer an equivalent. GM webpage

First generation (1999-2007)
The GMT800 Silverado/Sierra 1500 and 2500 (non Heavy Duty) (light pickup truck) was released in August 1998 as the 1999 model. The classic GMT400 C/K light duty truck continued in production for the first year along with the new model, and pickup The Heavy Duty GMT400 (along with the GMT400 SUV) continued until 2000, with the new GMT800 Silverado/Sierra HD (Heavy Duty) being introduced. A small refresher for the 2003 model was introduced in 2002, bringing little design changes and improvements to audio and HVAC controls. The last GMT800 2006 and 2007 production units used the name Classic to show the difference between first and second generation trucks.
Light task
There are a number of Silverados and Sierras light duty models, including half a ton, SS , and Hybrid .
Light duty trucks use the name 1500. They are available in three cab lengths, standard cabin/door 2 doors, 4-door extended cabin, and 4-door front hinged crew cabin. Three cargo beds are available: 69.2-inch (1.758 mm) short boxes, standard 78.7-inch (1,999 mm) boxes, and a 97.6-inch (2,479 mm) long box. The short box is only available with the crew cabin.
For the first year, only regular taxis and additional taxis are available, along with Vortec 4300 V6, Vortec 4800 V8, and Vortec 5300 V8. In 2000, the driver side door option became available for extended cabin, gave four doors, and the cabin crew body was added to the lineup in 2004. Output on the 5.3 L engine also increased to 285 hp (213 kW) and 325Ã, lb? Ft (441 Ã, N? M).
6.0 L Vortec 6000 V8 is standard on 2500 and added for the 2001 Heavy Duty model, rated 300 hp (224 kW), with GMC Sierra 1500 C3 getting 325 hp upgraded (242 kW) version of this machine. The Silverado Z71 gets an optional lightweight composite box, with a suspension package for towing, but does not have a high output engine. The C3 became Denali for 2002, and Quadrasteer added.
GM introduced a reworked version of Silverado and Sierra in 2003, with a new front end and a slightly updated back end. In 2006 Silverado received another facelift, similar to the HD version introduced in the 2005 HD model. In addition, Chevrolet has removed the "Chevrolet" badge from tailgate used since 1998-2005. Its SUV compatriots maintain the use of pre-facelift sheetmetal.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave Silverado the overall "marginal" score on frontal offset collision tests for poor structural integrity and poor puppet control, even though no injuries were recorded on the doll's body area.
2001 GMC Sierra C3/Denali
GMC created an upscale version of the Sierra 1500 in 2000 called Sierra C3. It used all-wheel drive with 3.73 final drive gear ratios and included 6.0 L Vortec 6000 LQ4 V8 with a value of 325Ã, hp (242 kW) at 5000 rpm and 370Ã, lboft (502 Nà , Ãμm) of torque at 4000 rpm coupled to 4L60E-HD 4L automatic transmission along with other top-class equipment. For 2002, the name was changed to Sierra Denali , but the specifications remain essentially the same except for the addition of Quadrasteer and GM changed from 4L60E-HD to 4L65E along with final 4.10 comparison tooth teeth.
Denali is rated for £ 9,100 (4,100 kg) and transports 1,595 pounds (723 kg) in the cargo box.
The Sierra Denali was originally equipped with the Delphi Quadrasteer system as standard equipment. It's a 4-wheel steering system that greatly reduces truck turning radius and improves path changes when pulled. General Motors downgraded Quadrasteer from Sierra Denali after 2004 model year and all its ranks after 2005 due to poor sales of this expensive option.
For model year '07, Sierra Denali shares the same billet grille from other Denali models, and also has the same dash as the '07 SUV. The '07 Sierra Denali was originally the only half-ton pickup that had 6.2 liters with 403 hp (301 kW) and 417 à £ lb (ft 565) of torque coupled to a six-speed transmission. The truck is also an optional all wheel drive vehicle and leaves 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds.
Chevrolet Silverado SS
Launched in early 2003, Silverado SS is a high-performance pickup truck built by Chevrolet. It is based on the 1500 Silverado with upgrades in the drive train and exterior and interior appearance. Equipped with a Vortec High-Output V8 6.0 liter rated 345 hp (257 kW) at 5200 rpm and 380Ã bb (515Ã,Ã) torque at 4000 rpm coupled to 4L65E automatic 4-speed transmission. This is the same machine used for Cadillac Escalade second generation. Chevrolet and GMC advertise this machine as Vortec High Output and then as "VortecMAX", while Cadillac calls it "HO 6000". SS debuted in 2003 with a standard All-Wheel Drive arrangement with a final gear ratio of 4.10 drives and 4 wheel disc brakes. In 2005, in an effort to increase sales, a 2-wheel drive version became available (SS 2WD also lost its rear disc brakes which supports drums, as do the remaining 1/2-ton GMT800s). The year 2005 is also the first year, the sun roof is available on the SS track. In 2006, the AWD variant was dropped and the rear wheel drive was the only available driveline layout. In further efforts to reduce costs, you can also get interior fabrics and/or bench seats. The Silverado SS is also equipped with a Z60 performance suspension and 20 inch aluminum wheels. All SS trucks in 2-wheel drive and AWD use torque rod front suspension for better handling. It should also be noted that SS-themed trucks are only available from factories in Black Onyx, Victory Red, and Arrival Blue Metallic from 2003 to 2004. In 2005 Blue Metallic Arrivals were dropped from a selection of colors and replaced with Silver Birch Metallic..
SS Intimidator
In 2006, Chevrolet released a special edition of Silverado SS under the name "Intimidator SS" (licensed by Dale Earnhardt Inc.) in honor of the late Dale Earnhardt. The truck comes with some minor improvement improvements (rear spoiler, embroidered headrests, Intimidator special badges), but basically just a regular SS Silverado. Of the 1,033 scheduled trucks, only 933 were made (the remaining 100 were sold as the "Silverado SS" 2007 style truck trucks before 2007.5 MY displacements These trucks are only available on Black Onyx exterior but can be ordered with fabric or leather interior. feature-
Vortec High Output/Vortec Max
High Output Options Vortec was first introduced in 2004 to a limited market (consisting mainly of Texas and some surrounding areas); it is available nationally for MY 2005. It is available for Chevy and GMC 1500 series trucks. This special edition package (under the B4V preferred code) includes some options not previously found on the standard 1500 models, especially the LQ9 6.0 L V-8 engine the same is used for Silverado SS, GMC Denalis 2005-2006 and Cadillac Escalade). The LQ9 motor is rated at 345 hp (257 kW) at 5200 rpm and 380Ã, lb? Ft (515Ã, N? M) torque at 4000 rpm, which is the same specification that is divided in the SS model. The B4V package can only be ordered on a standard 2WD truck length box. They are all built in Canadian assembly plants and are equipped with a High Performance Z60 suspension package, in addition to M32 = 4L65E transmission, GT4 = 3.73 rear gear, and G80 Gov Lock as standard equipment. The 2004 model comes with a standard 10 bolts of rear 8,625. The 2005 model was upgraded with 14 14.5 rear end bolts under the AXN RPO option. The package also includes a newly introduced 20-inch GM wheeled gear mounted from the factory. This marks the first time an LQ9 engine is available for two-wheel drive applications. Unlike the previous years with SS Package, you can order interior combinations in everything from basic to full fabric. There are also more exterior color options available with this package.
In 2006, the Vortec Max trailer package was available. The Vortec Max package is added to the list of options with a similar set of features and new badges, and essentially maintains the LQ9/4L65-E powertrain. However, the Vortec Max package differs from the Performance edition as it also comes with a Handling/Trailering Z85 suspension variant, as well as 17-inch wheels and tires under the NHT option code on 4x4 models versus the Z60 High Performance Suspension and a 20-inch wheel and tire package of B4V 2 wheel drive regular Performance Edition. This is because the Vortec Max package is meant for towing the max trailer, while Performance Edition is meant more for customers who want SS Silverado without SS visual mechanics. It was also available (in addition to an extended taxi) in light duty 4 model cabin crew. For the first time it is also available in 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive on Silverados and Sierra, with or without the Z71 package.
The latest Vortec Max performance package introduced in 2006 at GMT900 includes 10,800 pounds of towing capacity.
Hybrid
GM launched a hybrid version of the Silverado/Sierra in 2004, becoming GM's first hybrid passenger vehicle. Known in GM as a Parallel Hybrid Truck or IPM it is actually not a parallel hybrid with the current definition, but a kind of micro hybrid design. The electric motor placed inside the transmission wheel housing, serves only to provide engine cranking/start, charging, and powering accessories. The engine automatically turns off when the truck stops and uses 42 Volt electricity to the starter/generator unit to revive the engine when the brake pedal is released. In addition to the typical 12 V automotive batteries, IPM uses three additional 12 V valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries mounted beneath the rear seats to store and provide power. Trucks using 5.3 L Vortec 5300 V8 for main driving force. These trucks were also bought back from customers for more than what was of value in the late 2000s.
IPM has four 120 volt AC outlets 20 amps, two in the bed and two in the cabin under the back seat. This is particularly interesting for the construction/construction market, as they often require AC power when at work. In addition, additional power reserves for accessories make this truck very suitable for that market, where trucks often sit idle for hours at a time.
The HD variant is a heavy duty light truck. It is an amplified version of the light-duty Silverado/Sierra, and is available in models 1500HD , 2500HD and 3500HD . The 1500HD, introduced in 2000, offers Vortec 6000 V8 with 300 hp (224 kW) at 5200 rpm and 360Ã, lb? Ft (488Ã, à ± m) torque at 4000 rpm with four-speed automatic transmission Hydra-Matic 4L80E. The 2500HD also offers LB7 Duramax V8 with 300 hp (224 kW) at 3100 rpm and 520Ã, lb? Ft (705Ã, N? M) of torque at 1800 rpm, LLY Duramax V8 with 310 hp (231 kW) @ 3000RPM and 605 LBA, à · ft (820 NÃ, à · m) @ 1600RPM, and LBZ Duramax V8 with 360A, hp (268 kW) @ 3200RPM and 650Ã, lbÃ, à · ft (881 NÃ, à · m) @ 1600RPM. Also available Vortec 8100 V8 with 340 hp (254 kW) at 4200 rpm and 455 lb? Ft (617Ã, N? M) torque at 3200 rpm.
2500HD has a five-speed transmission (six-speed for 2006-2007) Allison 1000 with Vortec 8100 and Duramax 6.6. The Silverado 3500 offers the same engine/transmission features as those of the 2500HD, but is usually equipped with twin wheel "dually" on the back and has a stronger suspension. The HD model is mainly used for high cranes and heavy loads. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is ranked 2nd in a 2016 study by iSeeCars.com with the 10th longest vehicle rankings. The Silverado 2500HD has 5.7% of vehicles over 200,000 miles, according to the iSeeCars study.
The towing capacity for 1500HD is rated at 10,300 pounds (4,700 kg) and can carry 3,129 pounds (1,419 kg) in bed depending on the option. The towing capacity for 2500HD is rated at 16,100 pounds (7.300 kg) with 8.1L V8 gasoline with 3.73: 1 rear and can carry 3,964 pounds (1,798 kg) in bed depending on option. The drawing capacity for 3500HD is rated at 16,700 pounds (7.600 kg) and can carry 5,753 pounds (2,610 kg) in bed depending on the option. The addition of 4 wheel drive tends to reduce towing and carrying capacity of 200 to 400 pounds (181 kg), depending on year and model. Other factors, such as options, can also affect these numbers.
Machine
The new GMT900 generation from Silverado/Sierra arrived in the last quarter of 2006 as a 2007 model year. It features a redesigned exterior, interior, frame, and suspension as well as increased power on certain machines. It takes gesture styling from the 2007 GMT900 SUV and Chevrolet Colorado pickup. Like the GMT900 SUV, this pickup has also improved excellent aerodynamics over its predecessors such as sharply scratched windshields and tighter panel slits that improve fuel economy. The GMT800 model continued into 2007 with a "Classic" status, just like the GMT400 model that continued for two years after the introduction of GMT800.
The new Silverado won this year's North American Truck of the Year award for 2007 and is the Trend of the Year Truck Motor Trend for 2007. Like its predecessor, the new Silverado offers buyers a choice of two-door cabs regular, four-door extended taxi (with a rear door that now opens 170 degrees similar to the Nissan Titan) and four cabin crew doors with a rear door opening in the same direction as the front door. GM also offers trucks in a traditional two-and four-wheel drive configuration.
The third generation of small V8 block engines offered in GMT 800 trucks were replaced in the GMT 900 series by a family of generation IV V8 Small generation engines, featuring enhancements such as increased power and Active Fuel Management at 5.3 L and 6.0 L V8. The new high performance 6.2 liter V8 (with 403 hp (301 kW) and 417 à £ lb (ft 565 m) of torque) was introduced with the 2007 Cadillac Escalade and the 2007 GMC Denali line, and is now available on the Silverado LTZ line pieces. After spending the 2008 model year, with 2007 being the last for the GMT800 hybrid line, the two-mode hybrid model was introduced in late 2008 as a 2009 model. General Motors stopped the Silverado Hybrid due to poor sales with GMC Sierra Hybrid, Chevy Landslide, Chevy Tahoe Hybrid, GMC Yukon Hybrid, Cadillac Escalade Hybrid and Cadillac Escalade EXT after the 2013 model even though it is one of the first two hybrid pickup trucks ever produced. Available in two or four-wheel-drive, the Sierra 1500 Hybrid is powered by a 6.0-liter V8. It joins two 60 kilowatt electric motors supplied by a nickel metal hydride battery pack under the rear seat. By itself, the V8 is rated at 332 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque. GM engineers say that the combined output with an electric motor is 379 hp. The unique transmission is an electric motor home along with three different planetary gear devices and four traditional clutches.
There are two dash options offered in this model: Silverado and Sierra: a dashboard inspired dashboard in their GMT900 SUV, and a more traditional upright dash to make room for the passenger seat instead of the center console.
In 2008, General Motors large trucks were no longer sold in the United States and Canada with manual transmissions; they are only offered in Mexico on the 1500 V6 engine and the Silverado 3500.
All Silverado & amp; The Sierra 1/2-ton model received a revised bumper and shortened the front fascia in the mid-year 2009 model and a full mid-cycle refresh followed by all 2010 models, including new interior door panels (which move the handle forward and add additional holder cups) and transmission six-speed automatic on regular cabin models and extended with a larger 5.3L or V8 is also standard. Two new exterior colors are added: Taupe Gray Metallic and Sheer Silver Metallic.
The 8.1 L V8 block is no longer offered on the Heavy Duty model, and no replacements are announced. 6L90 6-speed automatic transmission is standard across all Heavy Duty models. Allison 1000 transmission is paired with optional Duramax V8 diesel.
In 2011, GMC and Chevrolet Heavy Duty have been upgraded with a full new full-strength steel frame from front to rear to increase the stiffness by 92% with larger rear springs, larger engines and transmission mounts and new hydraulic body mounts to improve driving. The front suspension incorporates new top and bottom control arms and a new torque rod adapted to one of five different heavy weight shaft ranks. The upper control arm is constructed from wrought steel that is stronger and lighter than the previous arm, while the new lower arm is cast iron to maximize load capacity. Using a unique torque rod for each gross weight rating allows for better control over vehicle height, resulting in improved handling and better alignment to reduce tire wear. This improvement allows up to a 6,000 pound axle weight rating, allowing all 4wd trucks to accommodate the snowplow. Additional additional front suspension comes from a new urethane lump, two by the side. The upper shock cradle has been changed from single rod to two-bolt design to eliminate the possibility of creaking and impact. The rear suspension design uses wider asymmetrical leaf springs and is capable of handling larger loads. The design has a 3 inch wide leaf, with front and rear spring with different lengths to reduce the rotation that can cause axle jump and traction loss. The 2500HD uses a two-stage design with a 6,200-pound rating, and the 3500HD model has a three-stage design with 7.050 à £ and a 9.375ÃÃà rating on a single and dual-wheel model respectively

IIHS gave Silverado a "Good" score in their frontal collision test, but the 2007-09 model fitted with or without an optional side air side curtain received a "Bad" rating in a side impact test. For the 2010 model year, side structures are strengthened, side air airbags added, and side airbags are standardized, with improvements in overall IIHS cover envelope performance being "Acceptable", while overall ranking of side structures is improved from "Poor" to "May be accepted". The crew variant from Silverado 2011-13 was also rated "Marginal" in the IIHS roof strength test.
The electric version
In 2011 the developer of Chevrolet Volt and former vice chairman Bob Lutz joined VIA Motors in developing an electric version of the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra called VIA VTrux.
Third generation (2014-2019)
On December 13, 2012, the redesigned Chevrolet Silverado 2014, along with GMC Sierra 2014 introduced in Detroit, Michigan, then made their public debut at the North American International Auto Show. GM dropped the 900 platform and changed to K2XX. The third generation Silverado 1500 has three engine gas options: 4.3 L EcoTec3 V6, 5.3 L EcoTec3 V8, or 6.2 L EcoTec3 V8. MyLink Chevrolet touch-screen multimedia interface system will be available on most models. It will have A2DP stereo streaming technology, Bluetooth hands-free phone, USB hookup, and input for Apple iPod or iPhone. When connected via USB port, iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5/iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6 Plus will be able to stream music from Pandora Radio. The premium Bose audio system, as well as the Bose audio surround system will be available on most models. OnStar will be standard on all models.
Below, Silverado drives a high-strength steel frame with hydroforming technology; cab truck frame built with high-strength steel as well. The third generation Silverado uses aluminum on the bonnet, for engine block and for control arm to save mass. Truck beds are made of non-steel rolled steel reels used by other manufacturers to save weight and gain strength. The third generation Silverado introduces the upscale High Country edition that includes a sadded red leather interior, which is Chevrolet's first entry into the luxury market. A revised front end featured stylish cues from the 1980s Chevrolet C-Series Truck, and, on the Z-71 model, the Z-71 badge was added to the front grille. The first production of Silverado completes assembly on April 29, 2013. The Silverado 1500 goes on sale in May 2013 as a 2014 model, with the Silverado HD Series available in early 2014 for the 2015 model year. On January 10, 2014, the withdrawal was issued for 370,000 Silverado and Sierra pickups because the risk of fire.

Fourth generation (2019-present)
On December 16, 2017, Chevrolet launched a new generation of 2019 the all-new Silverado 1500 at the Chevy Truck Weekend Springtime at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. The new Silverado disclosure is not expected until early 2018. For its debut, the 1500th Silverado was flown by helicopter to the stage, where it was introduced to a crowd of Chevrolet truck owners and fans, as well as for automotive press. In addition to revealing the 2019 Silverado 1500, several Chevrolet trucks from different generations are also on display.
The model shown today is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Z/71 Trail Boss 201XX 4X4, which is a modified version of the Silverado 1500 LT Z/71. The distinguishing feature of the Trail Boss from other Silverado 1500 trim levels is its gloss black front fascia, black rear bumper, black butterfly Chevrolet emblem on the front grille and rear tailgate, gloss aluminum alloy so black, large off-road tires, altered suspension, decals "Trail Boss" on the side of pickup box, front fog lamp mounted in the front bumper, the "Z/71" emblem on each front fender, and the front hook latch is painted red.
The Silverado 1500 has a more sculpted exterior design, with front headlights integrated into the front grille, which also incorporates Daytime Running Accent Lamps (DRL's) LEDs.
The official unveiling of the Silverado 1500 takes place at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan on January 13, 2018. At the opening, full details of the fourth generation Chevrolet Silverado were announced.
The Silverado 1500 will be available in eight different trim levels: WT , Custom , Custom Trail Boss , LT , < b> RST , LT Trail Boss , LTZ , and High Country . Standard features include next-generation infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, OnStar with Wi-Fi 4G LTE Connectivity, and lighter construction.
Engine options include revised 5.3L revised gasoline, revised 6.2L V8 gasoline, and 3.0L Duramax all-new six-inline (I6) turbocharged diesel engine, and All-new 2.7L Turbocharged L3B 4-cylinder engine (I4). The 6.2L gasoline V8 and 3.0L Duramax turbocharged inline diesel six (I6) engines will be mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Silverado 1500 is a full-size four-ton pickup truck offering diesel engine options, following the Ford F-150 2018, 2016 Nissan Titan XD and 2014 Ram Truck 1500, and is the first to offer 4 cylinder engines. The engine has an Active Fuel Management Fixed version called Dynamic Fuel Management that turns off a number of cylinders in various combinations, maximizes fuel savings and avoids switching between cylinder banks.
The Chevrolet Silverado 15009 will go on sale by the end of 2018 as an early 2019 model vehicle.
Variant
2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Model
Chevrolet announced that it will release 3 Silverado All-new 2020 models including the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD models in the next 18 months.
GMC Sierra
All-new 2019 GMC Sierra was inaugurated in Detroit, Michigan on March 1, 2018. The Sierra 1500 will be different from the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 partners by offering unique features, such as two-piece tailgate, carbon fiber pickup beds, 3 "x 7" Multi-color Heads-Up Display, backup camera back-up display system, and luxury Denali trim levels. The Sierra 1500 will also feature a different exterior style, though its interior styling will be similar to the Chevylet Silverado 1500.
There are 6 functions of GMC Sierra Multi Pro Tailgate including the main tailgate load termination for large items. The inner tailgate may be a load stopper, a full width, a workplace by dropping a stop load, or easy access to the bed by simply folding the inner truck.
The electric train includes an enhanced version of the current 5.3L and 6.2L EcoTec3 VLL petrol engines, as well as the same 3.0L Duramax Turbocharged Diesel I6 engine that will also be available at Chevrolet Silverado 15009 in 1500. The new speed, ten-speed automatic transmission will come as standard equipment on the Sierra 1500 model powered gasoline. The availability of the previous EcoTec3 V6 4.3L petrol engine was not announced at launch.
GMC Sierra 2019 will go on sale in Autumn 2018 as an early 2019 model vehicle at GMC dealers nationwide.
Medium work version (4500HD and 5500HD)
Chevrolet introduced mid-duty versions of Silverado, Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD, which will replace Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick medium duty trucks. The truck was launched at the 2018 Truck Exhibition in Indianapolis, Indiana in March 2018, and will join truckloads of Chevrolet 4500HD/XD and 5500HD/XD riders. It will compete with Ford Super Duty F-450 and F-550 and Ram 4500 and 5500. Chevrolet also plans to make vehicles available for sale at least 160 selected dealers, including 240 specializing in truck and commercial sales.
GMC has confirmed that it will not offer an equivalent, citing a lack of support for GMC to expand back into the medium duty market while pushing the premium market with their current ranks. This move makes Chevrolet the only brand in GM's truck division to have medium-duty vehicles in this segment as well as the only division to make trucks and SUVs available for fleet sales.
Workhorse W-15
The Workhose W-15 made by Workhorse Group is another electric version of the Chevrolet Silverado, but unlike VIA Vtrux, the interior design and exterior are modified to be more different.
Military applications
When CUCV II production ended in 2000, GM redesigned it to coincide with a civilian truck supply. The CUCV nomenclature was changed to Light Service Support Vehicle in 2001. In 2005, LSSV's production shifted to AM General, MacAndrews units and Forbes Holdings. LSSV is a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 made by GM, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, Chevrolet Tahoe, or Chevrolet Suburban powered by Duramax 6.6 liter turbo diesel engine. The various Silverados, Tahoes, and Suburbans used provide various platforms for different types of vehicles. Because GM has been redesigning its civilian trucks and SUVs from 2001-present, LSSVs have also been cosmetically updated.
The standard GM truck/SUV militarization to become LSSVs includes exterior changes such as CARC (Green Desert, Desert Desert, or 3-color Camouflage) paint, extinguishing lights, military bumpers, brush protectors, NATO slave containers/NATO trailer containers, pintle hooks and shackles crane. The electrical system is converted to a 24/12 volt military standard. Dashboards have additional controls and dataplates. The truck can also be equipped with supporting weapons inside the cabin, cargo fastening hooks, folding army chairs, pioneer tools, cranes, and other military accessories.
The Enhanced Mobility Package (EMP) option adds enhanced suspension, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, locking differentials, beadlock on/off-road tires, tire pressure monitoring systems, and other improvements. Approximately 2,000 units of LSSV are sold to the US and international military and law enforcement organizations.
