The decathlon is an athletic combined event consisting of ten songs and field events. The word decathlon comes from Greek, from ???? ( da à © ka , meaning "ten") and ????? ( ÃÆ'áthlos , or ?????, ÃÆ'áthlon , meaning "feat"). The event is held for two days in a row and the winner is determined by the combined performance in all. Performance is assessed on the basis of the points system in each event, not by the position achieved. Decathlon is opposed mainly by male athletes, while female athletes usually compete in heptathlon.
Traditionally, the title "Greatest Athlete of the World" has been given to people who won the Olympic Olympics. It started when King Gustav V of Sweden told Jim Thorpe, "You, lord, are the greatest athlete in the world" after Thorpe won near the Olympics at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912. The current world decathlon holder is American Ashton Eaton, who scored 9,045 points. at the IAAF World Championship 2015.
This event evolved from ancient pentathlon. The Pentatlon competition was held at the ancient Greek Olympics. Pentathlon involves five disciplines - long jump, throwing discs, javelin throwing, jogging and wrestling matches. Introduced in Olympia during 708 BC, this competition was very popular for centuries. In the sixth century BC, pentathlon has become part of the religious game. A ten-event competition known as the "all-around" championship, similar to the modern decathlon, was first contested in the US amateur championship in 1884 and achieved a consistent form in 1890; all held at the 1904 Summer Olympics, though whether it was an official Olympic event has been debated. Modern contraptions first appeared in the Olympic athletics program at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm.

Most international male and top level men clones are divided into two-day competitions, with tracks and field events held in the order below. Traditionally, all decathletes who complete the event, not just winners or medal-winning athletes, do a round of honor together after the competition.
Women's sheep
At a major championship, the female equivalent of dekastlon is a seven-event heptathlon; before 1981 it was five pentathlon events. However, in 2001, an approved IAAF appraisal table for women's women; the current world record holder is Austra Skujyt? Lithuania, with 8,366. Women's discipline differs from men in the same way as for stand-alone events: less shot, discus and javelin, and running obstacles using lower obstacles above 100 m rather than 110 m. The points tables used are the same as the heptathlon in a joint event. The event schedule is different from male dasak, with field events switching between the first day and the second day; this is to avoid scheduling conflicts when male and female deconslon competitions take place simultaneously.
One hour
The one-hour clan is a special kind of closure, where athletes must start the last ten events (1500 m) within sixty minutes of the start of the first event. The world record holder is Czech decatlet Robert Zm? LÃÆ'k, which reached 7,897 points at a meeting in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, in 1992.
Masters Athletics
In Masters athletics, performance scores are assessed ages before being applied to a standard scoring table. In this way, the competitive marks in the age division can be assessed, even if the mark will not appear on a scale designed for younger age groups. In addition, like women, age divisions use different application weights and lower obstacles. Under this system, German Rolf Geese in M60 and American division Robert Hewitt in the M80 division has set a world record of over 8,000 points each. Using the same scale, Nadine O'Connor scored 10,234 points in the W65 division, the highest decathlon score ever recorded.

System points
The 2001 IAAF points table uses the following formula: C > ) for track events (faster time earned better score)
A , B and C are parameters that varies according to discipline, as shown in the table on the right, while P is performance by athlete, measured in seconds (run), meter (throw), or centimeter (Jump ).
Decathlon tables should not be equated with the rating tables compiled by Bojidar Spiriev, to allow comparison of the relative quality of performances by athletes in various events. In the tables, for example, the decathlon score of 9.006 points is equivalent to 1,265 "point of reference", the same number as the triple 18 m jump.
Benchmarks
Split evenly between events, the following table shows the level of benchmarks needed to get 1,000, 900, 800, and 700 points in each sport.
