Plot
Eugene Levy's star series as Johnny Rose, a wealthy video store king, and Catherine O'Hara as his wife Moira, a previously successful star sinetron. Families lose their wealth when their business managers fail to pay their taxes. They were forced to rebuild their lives with their only remaining asset: a small town called Schitt's Creek that they had bought their son as a birthday present joke years before. The story revolves around the lives of families living in two adjacent rooms of a dingy motel with pampered adult twenty-year-olds, David and Alexis, each played by Dan Levy and Annie Murphy. Additional cast members include Chris Elliott, Jennifer Robertson and Emily Hampshire. The show is based on a series of situations that contrast with their once wealthy families and the behavior of their big city world with sudden small-town life and Schitt's Creek people who are honest, humble, and hardworking.

Reception
Schitt's Creek has received mixed reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes the first season ranked 59%, based on 22 reviews, with an average rating of 6.38/10. The site's important consensus reads: "The title is one of Schitt's Creek's best jokes, but the show from Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara give you a comedic impulse. " At Metacritic, the first season had a score of 64 out of 100, based on 11 critics, showing "favorable general reviews".
Reactions from Canadian reviewers range from rave to pan. Vinon Minay of Toronto Star writes that the show "is not just a welcome addition to prime time: it is one of the best CBC comedies in years." John Doyle of The Globe and Mail, however, has sharply criticized the show that says "Schitt's Creek is droll".Try arrogant and complacent.... There is no edge to Schitt's Creek This comedy is comfortable and perhaps the tight ensembles - tied up by families, old alliances - the curtains then to the lack of madness in what they do.The comedy is hard and the show is a soft-core comedy. "Doyle concluded," A lot of viewers will approach Schitt's Creek with affection. glad to see Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara working together again. They will enjoy the father/son dynamics between Eugene and Dan Levy.It is also very good But disguising the fact that the show is as anodyne and polite as the statements made by the stars when asked about it.It's fun and it's funny, but it fails. "
After being picked up by Pop, American acceptance has also been mixed. The Los Angeles Times describes the show as "very funny, beautifully played, sometimes touching and, although the premise is familiar - rich families lose money - enough of their own animals." and the New York Post stated that "The Levys well developed their fish-out-of-water concept by showing how families try to adjust to the needs." At the other end of the spectrum, Mike Hale from The New York Times calls Schitt's Creek "a boring and enduring show, with a potentially funny (if familiar) situation that never builds over laughs or nods a confession: Yes , it could be funny. "
The series has also been recorded for the portrayal of bisexual characters, played by Dan Levy.
